All of the molasses comes from cane grown on Worthy Park's property in Jamaica, and is copper pot distilled. The 2006 Reserve is aged for 12 years in once-used American white oak bourbon barrels then bottled at cask strength - 112 proof.
The nose is warm and thick, presenting you with a rich nose of caramel, cocoa, a little varnish, lemon zest, bananas foster, papaya, as well as some whiffs of grain, spice, and spearmint. On the palate it's got nice hit of vanilla, a bit of woody astringency, ripe fruits, cocoa, baking spices, pepper, and fruitcake. It's spicy, flirting with with the heat starting to overwhelm the more delicate flavors, but it always stays in check. It's a nicely balanced sipper.
