This pure sugarcane agricole was produced on the island of Mo'orea. It's a blend of two rhums aged a minimum of 6 years- The first in ex-bourbon barrels and the second in Banyuls (a sweet wine from south of France) casks. It's bottled at 45%.
In the glass it's a lovely golden brown. A swirl and rest reveals evenly-spaced, and quickly dropping legs.
On the nose it's bright, bold and spicy. Dried fruits, burnt sugar, roasted cacao, candied orange, a hint of tobacco, baking spices, vanilla and wood. Alcohol is nicely integrated.
On the palate it's warm, with a mouth feel that's light and soft. It's got very nice flavor, but not a lot of definition in the layers. It leads with a bit of vanilla and dried fruits, turning to soft cocoa, then orange peel, before ending on lemon peel, some sweet wine essences, and spice. Take breath through your mouth afterwards and you will get a those fresh and grassy agricole flavors on the lingering finish.
This is a really delightful bottle. The blend on it is really nice.
